No war on Venezuela!

President Donald Trump, noted autocratic president of the United States of America, has effectively escalated his undeclared war on the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. The goals of the Americans have always been transparent: to resubordinate the Venezuelan people and their land to the extractive interests of the American empire. It is no secret that the hydrocarbon fossil fuel reserves in the South American nation-state is expansive: Venezuela has the largest proven oil reserves in the entire world. This resource curse had long yoked the Venezuelan people to American oil interests, only broken by a mass movement of Bolivarianism. Breaking free from this yoke, the Bolivarian Republic has since been declared an international pariah by the West led by the United States.

In the previous year of 2025, Trump had waged an undeclared war on Venezuela using trumped up charges of a massive narcotics network led and perpetuated by the Bolivarian Republic. The people of the Philippines are no stranger to such brazen fabrications. Former President Rodrigo Duterte had long fabricated narcotic conspiracies across his political opponents and of the working class of this country to justify mass murder and detention, armed by both the United States of America and the People’s Republic of China. Trump’s wanton violence on Venezuela is of the same vein. In the past year, the American military had shamelessly murdered Venezuelan fishermen on unproven charges of drug running. Now, in light of heightened scrutiny over the Epstein files, Trump has fully escalated his attacks on the country as a way to escape accountability at home: American forces are bombing Venezuela, are reportedly deploying boots on the ground, and are claiming to have kidnapped Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

In solidarity with all oppressed peoples of the world, Partido Sosyalista calls on the honored principles of internationalism and declares our opposition to the US’ war on Venezuela and to US-instigated regime-change in said country.

Regardless of personal reservations or personal positions on the Venezuelan state apparatus, rejection of any and all inter-state warfare ought to be resoundingly rejected. We say “no war on Venezuela” just as we would say “no war on China” regardless of the People’s Republic state's hostility to our people, or how “no war on Iraq” categorically rejected the American invasion of Iraq regardless of the brutality of the regime of Saddam Huessein.

As socialists and those in solidarity to oppressed peoples across the world, we—as Filipinos—are enjoined to reject the US war machine at home, for it is precisely that the domination of American imperialism exists across the world that we can act against it locally. This is the principle of interlinking our struggles in the Philippines with that of the Venezuelan people.
