SMC: HANDS OFF INDIGENOUS LAND!

STAND WITH BUGSUK AGAINST SAN MIGUEL CORPORATION!

We at Partido Sosyalista strongly condemn the harassment being perpetrated against the indigenous Molbog people in Marihangin village in Bugsuk, Palawan to force them to give up their ancestral domain and allow San Miguel Corporation to turn their island into yet another luxury tourism getaway for the 1%.

From Boracay, to Sicogon, to Bugsuk: giant corporations are gobbling up the Philippines’ most beautiful places with the active assistance of the state. As imperialist powers escalate their struggle to carve up the world, in cahoots with rival sections of the local elite, indigenous people are being driven off their lands in the name of “progress” and pushed to the margins in the name of “civilization.” Our party stands with all those at the frontlines of the struggle against dispossession and imperialism, and join all those determined to build a world in which indigenous peoples rights are protected and everyone’s right to the commons are upheld.
