Shut Down the World for Gaza!
It has been 726 days since the Zionist genocidal campaign on Gaza started on the 7th of October 2023. This has resulted in the murder of more than 335,500 people in Gaza and more in the rest of Palestine.
Ever since the founding of the Zionist project in the late 19th century, there has been a concerted campaign of settler colonization in the land of Palestine culminating in the mass ethnic cleansing of Palestine in 1948 or the Nakba. The Zionist project has aimed to eradicate the Palestinian people with the current genocide in Gaza and extensive ethnic cleansing in the West Bank as the “second Nakba.”
The Zionists would not be able to continue this genocide without the full support of the United States and other western powers. But even powers supposed to oppose the United States, such as China and Russia, have done nothing as Gaza and the Palestinian people are actively eradicated from the map. They too are complicit in the genocide as a result of their inaction.
Only the great peoples of the world, and not their states, have acted for Gaza. In Yemen and Lebanon, it was non-sovereign militants who acted in solidarity with Gaza. In Italy, it was workers who organized a general strike against genocide. All across the world, working class people are mobilizing for Gaza.
Last week, the Gaza Freedom Flotilla once again sailed to break the deplorable and highly illegal blockade of Gaza as the Global Samud Flotilla. Israel has once again attacked a civilian and wholly peaceful aid convoy on its way to relieve the famine imposed by the Zionist project.
Because states either aid the Zionists in carrying out the genocide or remain helpless or paralyzed in the face of it, it is up to us workers and working people to come together and try to shut down the world for Gaza. In the coming weeks and months, we need to step up our efforts to prevent weapons from reaching Israel, make our governments take concrete steps to deprive Israel of the recognition and cooperation it craves to acquire legitimacy for its actions, and ensure that more humanitarian aid reaches the starving people of Gaza.
Our struggle for common liberation is tied up with Gaza. The second battle of Mendiola has shown to the Filipino people that Zionist military equipment used by the Philippine National Police oppresses our people here. The same logic of settler colonization in the Bangsamoro is the same one used in Palestine. Our struggles in the Philippines are tied up with that of Palestine and it is in the interlinking of these struggles that we understand how mobilizing against imperialism, militarism, and settler colonization here are part of the same totality that oppresses Palestine: the capitalist mode of production. To strike at imperialism and capitalism here is also to fight for Palestine. To resist the government’s cooperation with both Israel and the United States here is to fight for Palestine. Shut down the world for Gaza!
