On the anniversary of the October 7 day of resistance, Partido Sosyalista reaffirms its unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people.
We continue to fight for just and enduring peace in the region, which can only be achieved by defeating Zionism and ending Israel’s decades-long occupation of Palestine.
Israel’s brutal year-long offensive has claimed the lives of over 100,000 Palestinians, including at least 20,000 children. A letter co-signed by nearly a hundred American healthcare professionals cites that everyone in Gaza is sick, injured, or both. The damage in Palestine is irreversible and catastrophic, with hospitals, schools, and essential infrastructure deliberately targeted, leaving millions displaced and without access to water, electricity, or basic medical care.
The prospect of regional war is brewing, as Israel conducts assassinations against Iranian, Palestinian, and Lebanese leaders on foreign soil with impunity. Israel has launched a ground invasion of Lebanon and launched air strikes at Iran, Yemen, and Syria. This crisis reveals the irrationality and destructiveness of the fascist ideology of Zionism, which would risk global war to further its ambitions to conquer land in the region. Despite this, Israel continues to enjoy the unwavering support of the US, the UK, Germany, Italy, and other countries, with a leading US Vice Presidential candidate revealing the truth that “the expansion of Israel and its proxies is an absolute, fundamental necessity for the United States to have steady leadership there.” In the face of the International Court of Justice (ICJ)’s repeated interventions compelling Israel and all states to actively prevent genocide, the violence escalates. The US and its allies continue to arm Israel, provide political cover, and unleash their media and information infrastructure to whitewash the brutality, making them complicit in Israel’s war crimes and the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people. Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu released a statement after devastating military operations in Lebanon: “Our goals are clear, and our actions speak for themselves.” Indeed, their actions speak clearly on what their goals are: collective punishment, genocide, and colonial expropriation of land.
Partido Sosyalista denounces this imperialist warmongering and the moral hypocrisy of the US and its allies, which preaches democracy while aiding fascist settler-colonialism. This crisis lays bare the stark reality of the so-called “rules-based” international order and reasserts the need for the Global South to come together to assert true and lasting international peace.
Partido Sosyalista joins comrades around the world, in solidarity with rightful Palestinian resistance, in demanding:
The end of the fascist, Zionist, and genocidal settler-colonial project of Israel and its unlawful occupation of Palestine;
An immediate and permanent ceasefire in Palestine and the cessation of all Israeli military activity in the region;
An end to Israel’s illegal blockade, and the immediate flow of humanitarian and medical aid to Palestine;
The Philippine state, and all states, use whatever means at their disposal to exert pressure on Netanyahu’s regime to end the genocide, including cutting ties with the Israeli government, in compliance with their obligations under international law;
An immediate embargo on all arms trade with Israel;
An immediate embargo on all Israeli products produced in settlements in the West Bank;
The immediate and complete delivery of reparations by Israel, and its allies — the US, the UK, Germany, and Italy — to the people of Palestine and Lebanon, and enable real steps towards Palestinian self-determination;
The right to return of all Palestinian diaspora and refugees to their homeland in Palestine; and
The holding to account of all leaders who are committing war crimes and crimes against humanity, including and especially Benjamin Netanyahu and the heads of the Israeli and US, UK, Germany, Italy, and all the other governments complicit directly and indirectly in the ongoing genocide, through both international and domestic legal processes.
Partido Sosyalista firmly supports all avenues to forward Palestinian resistance, including the global Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement. We call for global demilitarization and the abolition of the US-led global military-industrial complex, asserting that their continued dominance is a threat to all of humanity. We stand with all oppressed peoples of the world in demanding that our governments fight for lasting international peace, from now until we are all free.
This genocide will end because the peoples of the world will ensure it.
